Late Night Eating Is Not A Willpower Problem

If you've been paying attention to your habits lately, you've probably noticed something. You may not be hungry during the day. You tend skip meals. You grab something small and keep moving. But then, nighttime hits and suddenly you are STARVING.

Let me be clear about this because I hear it all of this... this is not a willpower problem, this is your body responding and begging for help. Because when you ignore your body all day, when you under-eat, delay meals, or just push through the starvation, your body doesn't stay quiet. It waits, and then it gets loud!

That nighttime hunger. The snacking. The feeling like you can't shut it off... that is NOT you failing, this is your body trying to catch up from the day.

Here is what is actually happening.

  • You underfuel earlier - body ramps up hunger later

  • You don't eat enough real meals - nothing keeps your body full

  • You go too long without eating - your body shifts into survival mode

So by the time your day slows down, your body isn't asking anymore, it is DEMANDING. And most of us go on to blame ourselves, which is so silly. You think you need more discipline or you need to just stop eating at night. NO. You just need to stop ignoring your body earlier in the day. Because your body is always giving you feedback, whether you want it to or not. Lower energy. Cravings. Nighttime hunger. None of that is random.

So over the next two weeks, give this a try...

Stop ignoring your body earlier in the day.

- Eat before your body has to beg for it.

- Stop going all day on coffee, convenience, or toughing it out.

- Add real meals in, not just snacks.

Then just watch what happens at night... your body gets quieter. You sleep better. You smile more :)

Your body isn't working against you. It is responding to what you give it. So start listening.
